Have you seen blue pinwheels throughout your community? Those are pinwheels
for prevention, because in April we recognize Child Abuse Awareness in the U.S. Every child needs a safe living environment, home and community to grow and thrive.

When we invest in children, we are investing in our communities. This April, help us bring attention to all the different ways we can help children and families thrive. This month, let’s make a commitment to trying something new. Let’s transform the ways that we work
together to preserve and support families, because the best way to prevent is to support families before they reach the crisis point.
Let’s encourage each other and our communities to educate and increase awareness about the importance of child and family well-being. It all starts with family. Abuse is a symptom of something larger in the home. The best way to ensure that a child thrives is to strengthen and support parents and caregivers to enable them to care for their children safely before maltreatment is even possible.
To highlight the importance of supporting families in need, we would like to highlight some of our favorite kid-driven causes and organizations:
www.childwelfare.gov, offers great resources for caregivers and key points to consider in helping families build skills and care for their children safely.
https://preventchildabuse.org/, is one of the oldest child advocacy groups for the prevention of child abuse in the U.S. Providing resources and programs for parents, caregivers, and communities throughout the country and raising public awareness at the national, state, and local levels to ensure children have a chance to thrive.
http://www.everychildmatters.org, works to fight for the rights of our youth. Every child deserves a right toward the American dream; that starts with reducing poverty, discrimination, abuse and other barriers that create an opportunity gap for children.
http://www.cordiscosaile.com/navigating-child-sex-abus,toe/, offers resources for survivors and loved ones navigating child sexual abuse. Victims of child sex abuse frequently suffer both immediate trauma and long-lasting psychological and physical effects, and which greatly benefit from the council of outside organizations.
Remember that child abuse and neglect are preventable, and all communities benefit when children and families are well supported. #ChildAbusePreventionMonth #ThrivingFamilies #ChildAbuseAwareness #everychildmatters
